This week the USDA released its 2009 Household Food Security statistics. According to the report, 14.7 percent of American households were considered food insecure at least some of the time in 2009 and 5.7 percent were found food insecure often. These numbers are unchanged when compared to last year which showed the highest percentage ever since the report was first released in 1995. Billy Shore, executive director of Share Our Strength, a nonprofit devoted to ending childhood hunger had this to say:
